The video marks a re-teaming of the Brooklyn-based producer with director Shelly Carmel (who previously directed j.viewz's Salty Air). Carmel treated the video portion which was shot mostly in upstate New-York, while photographer Eran Amir created the stop-motion part using 2000 printed frames during a j.viewz tour in Israel earlier this year.
"This track has a certain sense of 'togetherness'” says Dagan “and when I stumbled upon Eran's technique I realized that it would be perfect to sort of project a video through its likely audience.
We were looking for a way to create a video that isn't "one-sided", so that was our way to offer an 'unfinished version' to our fans and have them leave a personal mark.
We also developed this tagging engine where people can comment on separated frames, dedicating their frame or whatever, treating it as their own"
The recent j.viewz album rivers and homes had an engaging appeal as well - Dagan made the album available for pre-order, and throughout a year recorded and released tracks to subscribers, who had access to full songs, demo versions, remix files & artworks.
The album package, which is essentially a 'visual diary' of that fan-funded process was nominated for a Grammy this year.
